MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW FOR OCTOBER 20TH!
Last year our community raised almost $55,000 during CROP WALK 2001 to assist in the worldwide effort to fight hunger. Crisis Control Ministry, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina, Samaritan Soup Kitchen and Sunnyside Ministry each received a check for over $3,100. The remaining monies went to fight hunger both nationally and internationally. Because you walked or supported a walker, someone has food to eat.
Please make plans now to participate in CROP WALK 2002 on October 20, 2002 from 1:00-4:00PM at Corpening Plaza. Once again the walk with be 5K (3.1 miles) and is being held during National Hunger Week so that we can "Walk with the World". This walk is a way for "Shallowfordians" of all ages to participate together in the fight against hunger. (See Wendy’s Window about the Hunger Banquet.)
If you think your feet are too tired, too big, too small, too ugly, too pretty, too whatever——stay tuned! We’ll have a new pair for you just in time for you to participate.
Volunteers needed for Salem Presbytery Hispanic Mission
Many of you may remember Alfredo and Rosa Mirando sharing in worship with us back in June. A part of their Hispanic ministry is an after school program each week day from 3:30pm until 5pm. The program is need of volunteers to help the younger children with arts and crafts and other activities. If you have a desire to help out, contact Jackie Rountree at 766-4723.
