Mako-chan:
Senshi of Deep Perception

Soft wavy brown hair and eyes as green as emeralds…those were the first things I noticed when I first beheld you up close.

Courage of a lion, strength of an ox, sweetness of a meadowlark's music. These could be seen in your eyes. They sparkle with emerald fire when angered and soften with angelic light when pleased. Your eyes are the window to your soul—a soul that can connect with other human beings…share joy and pain in the most intraceptive way.

My fondest memories of you play slowly in my mind:

"How old are you?" so long ago you had asked with such innocence common to people your age.
"First year of high school," Michiru had replied in her usual serene manner.

In surprise you had asked whether it was all right to drive. It was a question that made Michiru turn to me and ask the same thing.

If you had noticed, I was struggling to make a decent answer, something that would be acceptable to you and to Michiru. You make me nervous when you start asking questions like that. It was a situation or a simple question—something of no consequence to me, but it was one of the little things that indicated a perceptive soul. You have always been the one who sensed your friends' feelings well.

It wasn't only with me. It was how you dealt with people. You may not be aware of it but you are like that. You feel things that most people only overlook or take for granted. You sense other people's feelings without consciously trying to. You may have been brash at times, but this part of you overrides your impulsiveness. It is your thought for other people's welfare before your own that makes you braver than any other person I have ever encountered.

I am sorry that there had been a time when I used your facination with me as a way to accomplish my mission.

I thought I had to get your heart crystal. It was my destiny to be as evil as only those as pure-hearted as you can pronounce me to be. But I had been helpless then. A feeling that I could not ever be comfortable with.

The only thing I could do was seethe in silence, torn at the sight of you hurting at the hands of a Death Buster demon. I could do nothing. My duty will not permit me to do anything.

Yet you fought still, you with what little powers you had against that demon that not even your friends combined could defeat. I saw a senshi with a heart.

That was then…

Now that we have started to work together, I see that you have not lost it. The strong woman with deep perception and a caretaker's heart is still there. There will always be SailorJupiter, the physically strong one. But there will also always be Mako-chan, the girl with the spirit of a true friend.
