Odango Atama
Second of Three Parts

"Wah! Sugoi…!"

I had watched as you turned around in excitement, admiring the fishes inside that gigantic aquarium. It had always been this way. No matter how much the feeling of danger threatens to conquer, you manage to smile, pretending to make light of things.

Michiru and I had stared at you in silence—both weighing the heaviness of our mission…the talismans so near at hand. We could not let you interfere. Knowing your penchant for sticking your nose into our business, we had felt that you would meddle again.

We walked away…

"Please stop taking pure hearts!" you begged.

I only replied: "If you appear to us again, you will die." And we transformed and left you in despair.

Thinking on it now, you had still managed to interfere. My Odango Atama—it was your meddlesome ways that had saved me and Michiru. For all my cruelty and pride I have then since acknowledged to myself this gratitude. But my pride would not let me say this: Arigatto, Odango Atama…
