Black Joppa (Clarence G. White, 1954). S aster heavily veined prune-purple; F straw veined Spanish raisin. Parentage unknown, but counted as a 44-chromosome amphidiploid. Made no contribution to the modern gene pool, as it had only one registered, fertile offspring and that in turn had no registered offspring.

ARIL BLACK (N.T. Willbanks, 1967). King Henry X Black Joppa. S port wine, veined darker; F purple-black, darker in center.

Quarterbred

BOLD BABE (John Taylor, 1975). S bamboo to tan; F rose-purple with burgundy thumbprints beside yellow beard. Kiss Me Kate X Black Joppa.

Quarterbred

PYZON (Fred Gadd, 1977). Black self; red signal; bronze beard 17A-69: ((Elmohr x Black Joppa) x Beisan Aga) X (Swahili x Capitola).
