"One likes to think that Holmes speaks for Jeremy as well when he says, 'I think that I may go so far as to say...that I have not lived wholly in vain. If my record were closed to-night I could still survey it with equanimity. The air of London is the sweeter for my presence.' London, yes, and far beyond..." --Diana Rigg, from the tribute, "Remembering Jeremy Brett" (1995)

The following sound clips originated from Carrie Pratt's Jeremy Brett WebSite. The audios are directly linked to her website to save space on the "dedication".
Puss in Boots (1954?)
And Puss and his master are striding along by the river. They're just approching a lane which leads to a bridge over the river, and wait a moment...Puss has suddenly stopped?
Here come, not one, but three little, plump rabbits. They're snipping at the sack and now they're climbing inside. Oh my goodness here, here come two more, and they're going inside, too. I can see their little tails bobbing up and down as they gobble up the lettuce. Puss has got one eye open and, I think, he's counting the tails. He's opening the other eye now, and I think I know what he's going to do. Yes...yes, he's going to pounce!!
Marigold (1957)
ARCHIE: Ms Marigold? MARIGOLD: Yes? ARCHIE: I believe that Mr Globe was offering you some advice. MARIGOLD: And what's that? ARCHIE: Might I presume to add on to
the same subject? MARIGOLD: What subject would that be, pray? ARCHIE: "Love"? MARIGOLD: You were listening!! ARCHIE: Naturally! MARIGOLD:
W...what...what would your advice be? ARCHIE: Advice? About "love"? Never asked for any and when you get it, you don't take it.

The following audio extracts originated from two terse, yet heart-rendering
tributes to JB which aired on PBS after the US premiere of the Sherlock Holmes episode, "The Cardboard Box". A terse 30-second "A Tribute of Jeremy Brett" (1995) aired on the editor's local PBS channel, however the lengther 3-minute "Remebering Jeremy Brett" (1995) never aired in her state, however aired in others. Therefore special thanks to my dear Midden whom generously offered her copy of the "Remebering Jeremy Brett" to this "dedication".
"Rebecca" (1978)
MAXIM: What particular memories in your young life would you like to keep uncorked? THE GIRL: I'd like to keep this moment and never forget it...
MAXIM: New York with Mrs Van Hopper, or Manderley with me? THE GIRL: I don't understand? MAXIM: Choose. THE GIRL: You mean...oh, you mean you want a secretary, or something? MAXIM: I'm asking you to marry me, you little fool!
I'm asking you to marry me, you little fool!
"On Approval" (1980)
RICHARD: Are you suggesting that the reason that I love her is because she has money? GEORGE: I'm suggesting that is the reason you should.
MARIA: What does any woman know about any man? GEORGE: Yes, but what is much more to the point is: What does any man know about any woman? MARIA: Have you made the remark of a complete imbecile, perhaps you would like to tell us the answer. GEORGE: He knows everything about her, and you, you nasty old lady! You thought I was going to say that he knows nothing about her!! GOT YOU!!!
GOT YOU!!!
"The Good Solider" (1981)
I'm so desperately in love with Nancy...I'm dying of it. It isn't selfish is it? Would even you call it selfish? The knowledge that she loves me is what's keeping me alive. I shan't do anything to encourage her -- I shan't write even! I shan't reply if she writes to me! That isn't selfish, is it?
LEONORA: So long! EDWARD: So long..!
So long..!
"An Interview with Jeremy Brett" (1992)
I like "black comedy" very much. It's harder in this medium [Sherlock Holmes], I think. It's easier on the straight.
You swallow a secret smile when you're playing "black comedy". It's a delight.
Even the darkest people have their lighter side.
