Transmetal Megatron

Comments: Megatron transmetal is definitely the best of the TM leaders. Optimus is nice....but...Megatron is sturdier, has a better transformation, and looks nicer. He has a sharp beast mode and an "identical to the show" robot form. Can't be beat!

First thing you'll notice is the shiny chrome colors. Megatron has metallic purple on his T-Rex head, turbines, and feet. You'll also notice the tail which is flexible and moves into any position. I found this to be a slick trick!! In beast mode you do see the robot hands (which is my only complaint about the figure). But.....I can live with that for the rest is excellent. In beast mode you can turn Megatron in his skating form. You flip up his feet and the skates appear. Then you lift up the turbines and bingo........"rollerblading rex" :)

Unlike the "Ultra" version of Megatron, this transmetal edition has a removable tail (which later is used as a weapon). After detaching the tail, you flip up some stuff and twist other stuff. His transformations (which are labeled on the back of the box on the "challenge level of robot conversion" meter) are listed as between intermediate and advanced. They are larger in number and a lot more fun to pull off than Optimus' (took me a while to figure out a couple steps). In robot form, you can place his tail into his hand. The end of the tail opens up (like in the television series) and gets ready to blast an enemy!! Very slick feature!!

The transmetal boxes are excellent with a new silver/green look. Gives it a more metal look. Megatron is attached to a yellow background via twisty ties. Inside the box is his instructions (and Kenner catalog).

Megatron is wonderful. He has to be one of my favorite Beast Wars figures (at least my favorite Mega fig). His beast mode and robot forms are excellent (as well as his transformations and removable tail). While he doesn't shine as much as Optimus in beast mode (in terms of the chrome), he looks better overall. Where Optimus was the king leader in the "ultra" line, Megatron won the transmetal set by a tail :)





A quantum surge rips across the Beast Wars world altering Megatron, evil genius and leader of the Predacons, into a metal-armored T-Rex. New turbine powered V.T.O.L. (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) engines extend from his body, providing blazing atmospheric flight and the ability to "drop-in" on unexpecting Maximals with his whiplash cutlass! Fused reptilian musculature enhances his power in an organic robot mode. The result: creation of a supreme tyrant.
