Comments: Wahoo!!!!! After months of running into Wal-Mart and TRU, I finally came across the Mega Transmetals. Thank goodness...I was ready to snap!! :)

It was well worth the wait. Although a bit awkward, Optimus Primal is an excellent figure. The shiny metallic pieces are excellent. He's also very true to the television counterpart (what we've seen of him anyway).

The first thing you'll notice is the shiny metallic colors. The blue shine on his chest mixed with the red accents look wonderful. Unfortunately, the gorilla mode is a bit strange. He doesn't stand that well and it seems like he should have some sort of feet. Oh well.....very minor complaint since the figure stands out so well!! In gorilla mode you can convert him to the hoverboarding form. You pull down the back of his legs and connect the hoverboard. Kind of a neat effect!! Not too easy of a figure to stand....but still looks good!!!

Transformation (according to the back of the box on the "Challenge Level of Robot Conversion" is between intermediate and advanced) isn't too difficult but makes you feel as if you got your money worth. He actually comes with two sets of hands (one for robot and one for beast) which need to be flipped around. However, the panel you open to do so often comes loose when you're just playing with him. The robot form of Optimus is much better. He's a lot sturdier and looks nicer (although the shiny chest is gone). The backpack can flip in front of him and be used as a blaster....or...he comes with a missile launcher. It shoots out these two "club" looking missiles. Nice effect!!

The packaging on the transmetals is excellent. The brown we're used to is replaced with green/silver. Gives that metal look (even the trademark BW eyeball has metal eye lids surrounding it). Each of the boxed figures are twisty-tied together amongst a yellow background. Included with Optimus are two missiles and missile launcher (plus instructions and catalog).

Optimus Primal transmetal is a great figure. A little awkward in beast mode, but.....the robot form makes up for it. He's slick, shiny, and worth the wait!!!
