Comments: Hot Rod is the cool looking race car that first appeared in the movie. The toy itself stands up to the movie figure for it is slick in both auto and robot mode.

The color scheme is really nice with a sharp orange and yellow detailing the corners. He also has an exposed engine and blaster for the top of it. I always thought Hot Rod was done very well.

He seems to have a good balance of transformation steps. He also has a nice pair of blasters. There are actually two versions of Hot Rod out there. How do I know this? Because I own them both.....anyway.....there is a plastic toe version and a metal toe version. The one you see above is a "poster box" version (the more sought after of the Hot Rods). He would have plastic toes and would be the very FIRST HR to be released.

Hot Rod is an excellent piece from the third year that stood out among the rest. "If you're gonna' ride.....ride in style!"

Hot Rod is an all-American-boy-Autobot. He's a typical adolescent who dreams of being heroic and important. He tends to follow rules too closely. Although he means well, Hot Rod's impulsive actions often get him into trouble. He carries two photon lasers that temporarily electromagnetize an enemy robot's microcircuits. Speed 120 mph. Range: 2 miles. He can be hotheaded but he's always a well meaning, admirable lad and a brave and honorable fighter.
