Ratchet
Alliance: Autobot
Identification: Autobot Medic
Year released: 1984
Accessories: static laser gun, three missiles, gun post
Comments: One of those figures in the first releases where you questioned why it was released like it was. Sure the vehicle mode of Ratchet is identical to the cartoon/comic. However, the figure form looked bad. It was no where near the Ratchet we had come to love. That goes the same for Ironhide who was released with the same mold. You mainly would keep him in Ambulance mode to hide the fact that robot form stunk.
His Ambulance mode is very nice with mainly a white look and top siren lights. Is identical to his TV counterpart. Then you transform him into robot mode and......he looks incomplete. His face is a sticker behind the windshield and is very disappointing. I suggest leaving him in vehicular mode.
Extra piece of information: the very first releases of Ratchet (where Hasbro purchased Japanese remaining stock and packaged them in American boxes) had a red cross on the top of his Ambulance mode. The "rub stamp" version (second releases) had no cross.
Ratchet was the best tool-and-die man on Cybertron. In his workbay on Earth he can make anything from a pin to a missile. Repairs injured Autobots, given the right parts. Likes to party, give backtalks, but does any job as well as anyone. Has laser scalpels, arc-welders, electron microscopes, circuit sensors, fluid dispensers at his disposal. Sometimes his having a good time interferes with his effectiveness.
