Transformers Memories! (P - R)
In my opinion, TF has been one of the greatest influences on my life. That may sound quite sad, but as one of the greatest toys ever, they allowed my imagination to be used constantly, because they were so damn interesting, unlike many of the other toys of the day. I still look back to the days of late 1984, when I received my first figures Soundwave and
Buzzsaw (he seems to be the first TF figure for many), who were later joined by a rather odd yellow Cliffjumper. Of course, it was the excellent comics that made the Transformers truly great, in particular the first twelve issues' storyline, and anything
written by British Simon Furman (if anyone knows where he is now, please e-mail me). The movie was not perfect, but I'd say that the first 30 minutes are damn good pieces of celluloid. In particular, I'd single out the 'shuttle highjack' scene. Four of my all time favourites going out in a hail of laser fire. Prowl's death (smoke out of mouth, eyes dulling)stands out as most disturbing, and the way Megatron wasted Ironhide, finally saw a cartoon Megatron act as he should. Prime had a great and touching exit, as did Megatron and Starscream, but it's just a shame that we only see the likes of Windcharger as burnt out cannon fodder.
The other great thing about the movie was the dialogue. Lines that immediately spring to mind include:
Springer: "I've got better thing to do tonight than die!"
Prime: "One shall stand, one shall fall."
Soundwave: "Soundwave superior, Constructicons inferior."
There's loads more that I can't remember right now, although my final thought has to be of Orson Welles. When he was in his late twenties, he made the supposed best film of all time, and it's likely that most people would consider ending his career and life on a movie about toys would be something of a long fall (admittedly, it was). At least, however, the toys of the film were the finest toys ever.

G'Day from New Zealand (little place just south of Australia).
This is just amazing, I've just connected to the Net (for education/research purposes) and decided just to surf around and see what is available just for fun. Hmmmm I wonder if there are any pages sites that MAY have something to do with my most fav toy from when I was a kid -Transformers. Type into the search engine and.... Good God!!! Absolutely amazing. Looking at the various pages etc, I actually managed to relive the feeling I had when, as a wee fella, I first got caught up in the Transformers craze(14 years ago? Surely it was only yesturday!!). I can still remember my joy when I finally bought my first Transformer after working for pocket money and paying it off on lay-by(lay-away??). That first one was the majestic Swoop. More followed as finances allowed until I had a collection that I was (and still am) quite proud of. Well played with but always carefully looked
after, they're carefully stored away now, most in their boxes.
The later models never really caught me, although I did get one Head master, Hard head. I don't think there's any market for Transformers or toys like them in New Zealand but I don't think I would collect them or sell them if there was, they are just too full of memories and emotions, I'm sure you understand what I mean!!!
Any ways, great site, great info, catch you around

I remember on Christmas when I got Ultra Magnus. I wanted him and Optimus Prime that year and when I opened the
package and saw Magnus there was also an Optimus prime toy(the white cab) so I was very happy. I also remember after
along time waiting I got Optimus Prime through a mail order. I also remember seeing the movie in theaters. There were alot of
crying kids when Optimus died.

The first recollection I ever had with Transformers was one Sunday Morning when I saw Transformers on TV (they were airing it once a week back then). I thought it was a really cool cartoon. Then I experienced the transformer toys which I thought were just as cool as the show. I'm 20 now and there are many things in my lifetime which I have forgotten about, like all those math and spanish subjects I took in high school, but I have never forgotten my childhood memories like the Transformers. I still remember all those Transformer commercials with the catchy beat and of course, the first generation cartoon episodes. I had a few transformer toys back then, but I don't have them anymore. Sigh!!

Unlike a lot of folks on your memories pages, I was about 18, not 4 or 6, in '85. I'd gone through the rejection of kid's stuff earlier, and I was just old enough to really dig a cool new toy line for its own sake. Afternoons after my college classes or whatever, I'd rush home to watch the G1 show ... I was so peeved when the theme music changed from the original version. Luckily, I still have my original tape of the movie soundtrack. :)
In '87 my best friend Luke and I got so obsessed with the movie (on video by then) that we rented it weekly. And we formed perhaps the only existing chapter of the "Chris Latta Fanclub," -- the guy who did the voice for Starscream on TF, Cobra Commander on "G.I. Joe," and Decompose on "Inhumanoids." We thought he was brilliant, and we were so bummed when the G1 segment of the movie ended, pretty much, with Starscream's "death."
Then, I also had a Blitzwing, who I played with a lot, he was kind of my mascot. I put the Decepticon sticker on the rearview mirror of my car. I thought it was kind of cool how in the post-movie series that Blitzwing defected. But I gave that toy to my gf of the time ... and never saw it again, damn it.

My favorite memory of the TF's was in the movie when that idiot Brawn got killed and then Prowl then Rachet then Ironhide said....."NOOOOOO" then Megatron said "Such heroic nonsense!" and blew him away!!!!!
only one who cried!

My first TF memory other than the TV series was recieving a shiny new Shockwave in the box on Christmas Day 1984. I was 19 years old. It must have been one of the first Shockwaves produced as it came in the box with no rubsign. I still have it in my collection today! This was my Transfomrer collection up until last November. Since then I have gone TF crazy. I only need three more pieces to complete the first three series.

My happiest moment was getting fortress maximus. I saw him a TRU and thought I must have him (I was only 6) so I figured my birthday is coming up why not ask for it? Well i did my mom and dad drove to the nearest TRU (which took about 90 minutes) and I remember seeing tons of him, any ways They got me him and I walked out of that TRU the happiest kid alive. Well one night i was sleeping in my parents bed and I watched my dad come in a take Fort Max off the dresser. I said "What are you doing" he said "nothing". I later found out he was putting the stickers on fort max. He says it took him bout an hour. I don't remember getting him. All I remember is my dad taking him out of the box for me. I still have him complete with the box:)
