A certain tale is recorded of a small valley in the Pontic alps, perhaps five days to the east, north of Erzurum. According to the legend recorded, this valley is the home of a species of bird who builds its nest from its own spit. After the spit hardens, the nests are like crystal in their splendor.
This valley actually exists, nestled in a small regio. The birds still dwell there, their song haunting and strange. Their nests are sources of Muto vis. An ancient guardian protects them, one that ahs proven difficult for the magi to even deal with.
It usually appears as three eagle owls, that forms to an androgynous human figure. It speaks an ancient tongue. Constantine formed a bargain with it that resulted in a colony of these birds settling at the gate of Birds. They seem more conducive to having a few nests harvested per year, resulting in a steady supply of muto vis for the covenant. Constantine, inhis allusive way, has warned the other magi that there may be more to this bargain.
Eagle Owl(Bubo bubo), bird of the family Strigidae (order Strigiformes), characterized by its large size (often 70 centimeters [about 2.3 feet] long), two tufts of feathers on the head (ear tufts), and large orange eyes. The overall coloration is tawny, mottled with brown, lighter below. The eagle owl roosts and breeds within rocky niches and hollow trees. At twilight it perches on a branch while searching its territory for prey, mainly rodents, hares, rabbits, and large game birds. The eagle owl, sometimes called the Eurasian eagle owl, inhabits Europe, Asia, and northern Africa but is only a straggler in most of Great Britain. It is a horned owl. |
