- Namastè is a salutation which essentially means that I greet and acknowledge the
God-Spirit that resides within you. Ram Dass describes it this way [Namaste` means]
"I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells. I honor the place in you
which is of love, of truth, of light, and of peace. When you are in that place in you, and
I am in that place in me, we are one." This greeting is usually done with a gesture of
hands held close to the heart in prayer position. It is a recognition of the Atman within,
the acknowledgement of our connection in Spirit and a wonderful way of expressing
love and respect for our fellows.
- Om Mani Padme Hum
- OM MANI PADME HUM is a very old mantra. The words are Sanskrit and
translate
- literally to "OM, jewel in the lotus, hum". This mantra is
associated with
- Avalokiteshvara, who represents compassion it its ultimate
manifestation. There are
- many levels of meaning here and the sequence of sounds really needs
to be studied in
- detail and in light of Vajrayana Buddhist symbology, something I am
not going to
- attempt to do. Simply put, and on the human level, the jewel (mani)
represents
- knowledge or wisdom or research. An example might be studying auto
magazines
- and blue book lists before going out hunting for a car. The lotus
(padme) represents
- the human consciousness and our interaction in the world. It's a
process of reaching
- out and making contact, of taking our knowledge out into the worldthe
venturing
- forth to the car dealers. It's a very logical concept of gaining
wisdom or enlightenment
- about the world through research and trial. OM and HUM are called
seed syllables.

- Spiritwalk
-
- The idea of Spiritwalk is that life is a journey, a process; and that
this journey can be
- done with a conscious awareness of being, at once awashed and infused
with the Light
- of Universal Spirit. This Light, within and without,
provides us with direction and
- inspiration along the way. One Spiritwalker ecstatically
remarked: "It feels like I am
- walking in Spirit. How wonderful." Thus Spiritwalk
received its name.
