Love of Mankind

The founders of the great religions,
Gautama Buddha, Jesus,
Lao-Tzu, Mohammed, all seem to
have striven for a worldwide
brotherhood of man; but none of them
could develop institutions
which would include the enemy,
the unbeliever.
Geoffrey Gorer (1900's)

If you want to be free, there is but one way;
it is to guarantee an
equally full measure of liberty to all your neighbors.
There is no other.
Carl Schurz (1900's)

What is serving God? Tis doing good to man.
Benjamin Franklin (1700's)

Through our scientific genius we have
made of this world a
neighborhood; now we are challenged,
through our moral genius, to
make it a brotherhood.
Martin Luther King (1900's)

As I would not be a slave, so I would
not be a master. This
expresses my idea of Democracy.
Whatever differs from this, to the
extent of the difference, is no Democracy.
Abraham Lincoln (1800's)

If a man be gracious and courteous
to strangers, it shows he is a
citizen of the world, and that his
heart is no island cut off from
other lands, but a continent that
joins to them.
Francis Bacon (1800's)

So what is the true work of man?
Surely, the true work of man is to
discover truth, God; it is to love
and not be caught in his own
self-enclosing activities. In the
very discovery of what is true
there is love, and that love in man's
relationship with man will
create a different civilization,
a new world.
J. Krishnamurti (1900's)

"An Unforgettable Woman"

What makes a woman unforgettable? Is she caring,
loving, aware and responsive to the needs of others?
Does she share her feelings with her chosen partner
or friends and is not self-centered? Is what she
looking for in a man is his financial status, popularity,
physical attributes, or perceived intellect? Or does she
accept a man for what he is, as he is, and not want to
change his morals, values or his ways as long as they
are reasonable? Is she willing to give of herself as
easily as she receives from others?

What makes a woman unforgettable? A smile or laugh
for no particular reason? An "I love you" out of the blue?
A walk on a beach with the moon glittering off her hair
and sparkling in her eyes and no words having to be
exchanged to reinforce the feelings being shared?
Understanding your feelings, needs, problems and
cares without explanation? A kiss on the cheek without
provocation? An "I'm sorry" from the heart? An electric
feeling from a kiss? Holding hands, putting her head
on your shoulder, or giving you a peck on the cheek in
public without being embarrassed? To be able to cry
when she is sad, hurt, lonely or depressed and not
being embarrassed to do so?

What makes a woman unforgettable? Is she secure
with herself in her emotions, feelings and self-esteem?
Does she take care of herself both physically and her
outward appearance to the best of her ability? Can
she share her feelings and desires with others without
worrying about "what will other people think"?

What makes a woman unforgettable? This is really
not a fair question. There are a million different things
under a million different circumstances that come into
play. There is no one single answer or a "set
combination" of answers to this question. So much
depends on the individual, what the circumstances are,
what the atmosphere is, what you are looking for -- a
simple conversation, a friendship, a relationship?

A woman may be unforgettable upon first sight or the
first meeting of her. Or, she may become unforgettable
after several or many occasions after the true individual
is known.

What makes a woman unforgettable? Just being a
woman and herself. All women are "unforgettable" in
their own special way.

Don't attempt to put specifications on an "unforgettable
woman" as if she is a piece of merchandise. She is
human and has feelings, wants, desires and needs just
as does man. She is a lady -- she is a woman.

There once was a King who offered a
prize to the artist who
would Paint the best picture of peace.
Many artists tried. The King
looked at all the pictures, but there
were only two he really liked
and he had to choose between them.

One picture was of a calm lake.
The lake was a perfect
mirror for peaceful towering mountains
were all around it. Overhead
was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds.
All who saw this picture
thought that it was a perfect picture
of peace. The other picture
had mountains too. But these were
rugged and bare. Above was an
angry sky from which rain fell, and in
which lightening played. Down
the side of the mountain tumbled a
foaming waterfall. This did not
look peaceful at all. But when the
King looked, he saw behind the
waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack
in the rock. In the bush a
mother bird had built her nest.
There, in the midst of the rush of
angry water, sat the mother bird
on her nest... perfect peace.

Which picture do you think won
the prize?

The King
chose the second picture.

Do you know why?

"Because," explained the King, "peace
does not mean to be in a
place where there is no noise, trouble,
or hard work. Peace means to
be in the midst of all those
things and still be calm in your heart.
That is the real meaning of peace."

WONDERDAY

I hope you woke up this morning with a
big smile on your face ..

I hope the sun is shining just for you
and the birds are singing their very best songs ...

I hope your coffee is hot and tastes just right
and the cats are purring contentedly,
and the mailman waves a cheery hello
and there are no bills in the post ...

I hope that your day is filled with lovely surprises
and friends call you up just to say "Hi" ...

I hope you feel on top of the world with
a spring in your step all day ...

I hope just everything goes your way ...

I hope everything is well with your world,
a place for everything and everything in it's place ...

I hope you can enjoy all you do and
you are complimented on the way you
look and you can laugh and talk and
share to your heart's content ...

I hope you have all you wish for yourself
and those dear to you, and all your
dreams come true ...

and at the end of the day I wish you
a perfect moon shining just for you,
a snug and cosy bed with the softest of pillows
and I hope you sleep like a lamb with a
smile on your face ...

I hope you have a perfect end to the
perfect day and I hope that every
day is just as wonderful in it's own way

The real challenge of love is to maintain our
personal dignity without intruding that of
others.

Our most valuable possession is our personal
dignity. When we lose that, we have nothing. Since
we all have value and are different from each other,
it is ludricrous to measure one person's worth
against another's. People who evaluate worth in
others by their monetary value, their work, or by
what lifestyle they choose, call into question their
own intelligence and sensitivity.

If we are all equal in the eyes of God, who can put
themselves up as a higher judge? We only become
entrapped in this losing scenario when we allow
others to be determiners of our worth. As long as we
believe in ourselves, maintain our self-respect, pride
and sense of humor, we are safe from such intruders.

When we belittle in order to aggrandize ourselves, it is
a sign of our own weakness. We become more worthy
of compassion than contempt, for, in reality, we are
revealing our desperate need to be loved.

If The World Were Blind

If the world was blind,
maybe then we'd see
the true side of beauty,
deep within you and me.

No one could judge us
by our outer looks,
like the fancy covers
on expensive books.

We'd see with our hearts,
and not just our eyes,
and what we discover
might be a suprise.

There would be no need
to try to impress,
with the way we look,
or the way that we dress.

The only thing that would matter
is the way we would feel,
not phoney or cheap,
but truthful and real.

Life continually presents us with opportunities
for achieving what we
desire. "Only the first step is difficult.
" Each time we sense the
possibility of a new direction in our lives,
we are being given a chance
to grow.

Sometimes the first step is a big one;
sometimes we start to take it
almost without noticing; a dream,
a book, a conversation. Sometimes
growth may come from not taking
what looks like an opportunity.
Whatsoever choice we make we
can be challenged to grow.

"The distance doesn't matter." Our road
has many branching paths. What
we work and pray for is the ability to see
those steps clearly, and the
strength to take a difficult first step.

Quote:

The distance doesn't matter;
only the first step is difficult.

"God, Are You Real?"

The child whispered, "God, speak to me"
And a meadowlark sang. The child
did not hear.So the child yelled, "God,
speak to me!" And the thunder
rolled across the sky But the child
did not listen.

The child looked around and said,
"God let me see you" and a star shone
brightly But the child did not notice

And the child shouted,"God show me
a miracle!"And a life was born but
the child did not know.

So the child cried out in despair,
"Touch me God, and let me know
you are here!"

Whereupon God reached down And touched
the child.But the child brushed
the butterfly away And walked
away unknowningly.
