National Day of Remembrance for The Missing

January 18, 1998 will mark 27 years since Christine Eastin of Hayward disappeared from a car wash on Mission Blvd.  I've arranged (on short notice) for about a dozen churches (one in Kauai) to include a prayer request for her -- and all missing persons -- in their services this weekend.  Two online prayer groups have further mobilized this time of remembrance.  A friend in Idaho will be announcing it on his radio show, and it just goes on and on, with so much support from the heart.  I am now working toward securing a National Day of Remembrance for The Missing, and would like it to be January 4, Christine's birthday.  She is the original impetus, and the focus should be on life.  Too, I feel the first week of the year is a wonderful time for assessing and renewing that which is important to us.  If the support I've encountered in the last week is any indicator, this dream should come about.
I'm sure all your wonderful Sunset alumni will keep her alive in their hearts, and let her motivate them to help others.
Fondly,
Judy Ruiz Verhoek
