ODE TO A HEALTH NUT
by Gem Bordages
Run, run from death;
Run 'til you cannot catch your breath!
Marathons, morning jogs, treadmills, trot in place;
Push yourself to the limit, quicken the pace!

Eat, eat more fruit;
Eat more veggies of pure repute!
Avoid those sauces, gravies, dressings and meats;
Stay away from noshes one would deem as treats!

Shun, shun that salt;
Shun sugar, fats, chocolate malt!
Eschew caffeine, nicotine, french fries, sour cream;
Chastely elude temptation, follow your dream!

Pop, pop that pill;
Pop vitamins, ginseng, until
You are sure that you have everything you need
To cheat the Grim Reaper on his dreaded steed!

Stay, stay the course;
Stay on that track without remorse!
Preach this gospel to all at points low and high;
And amidst this grand battle, healthfully die!
