A Poem by Katherine Lee

 Creeping down that mountain road

Snowstorm so sudden

Snowflakes flickering fast across
That glass grate ahead

A thump heard within the warmth
Of that
black BIG automobile

Symbol of STRENGTH, safety, power

Back up, move to the side
Step out onto the
frozen ground
Squint ahead through the flakes

Red s p r e a d i n g

on the ice white road

Move towards it, stop in shock

A
wee tiny fragile fairy girl child

Lies still

and quiet

and cold

Seemingly sent out from somewhere
This dimension or another

Fear, despair, confusion, anger mingle

Steps retreating to a locked safety

Creeping down that nightmare mountain road ...
