Dixie Cooney
Storyline from 1998-present

Living the peaceful life in Pigeon Hollow, WV, just wasn't meant to be for Dixie and her son Adam Junior. At least, not as long as Adam Senior had any say in the matter.
Adam, believing Camille Hawkins to be a threat to his entire family demanded that Dixie return to Pine Valley with his son. You can imagine how well that went over with the now independent Dixie. But, unbeknownst to her Adam had already taken legal action and was granted temporary custody of thier child. Dixie and Adam squared off at the Pigeon Hollow cemetary while Adam was visiting his sister Lottie's grave. Adam threatened to take the child, thinking Dixie powerless. But, she had managed to beat him at his own game and had hidden Junior. To his threats of taking her son, she merely replied, "You're gonna have to find him first."

After Adam explained his twisted logic on wanting Junior to return home, Dixie conceded. Not wanting to have Junior be without her, Dixie told Adam that the only way she'd let Junior return with his father, was if she went with him.
She immediately came face to face with "the only man she ever loved" Tad, who had just survived one of the more harrowing experiences of his life. The destruction of Holiday's. There was nothing left but rubble. Many had been injured and Camille had been killed while trying to save everyone from her father's trap. Tad sat among the ruins in despair until he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder. Much to his amazement, it was Dixie. She had evidently heard about the blast and had come to see if she could help any of her relatives and friends. Instinctually, Tad reached up and embraced her.

They sat and spoke a while, discussing the blast, Camille, and Tad's feelings for her.

Finally, a few rescue workers ordered them to vacate the premesis, so Tad escorted Dixie out.
Later on, Dixie found Tad and Dimitri arguing over Brooke's, she prevented a full fledged fight between them. Tad found out that Brooke had (once again) fled the country with Jamie without notifying Tad. He was devestated. He needed to find his son. He had to locate Jamie and Brooke, but how? Dimitri wouldn't help. Dixie came up with an idea...find The Wiggle Room

With Dixie's help Tad set out to delay the court's finding out that Brooke (who is on trial for murder) had skipped bail. Tad enlisted the help of his brother Jake, his father Joe, and cousin Kelsey in the plot. The gloves came off as Dixie goes up against DIMITRI to help Tad. Did she succeed? You betcha.. she's Dixie.
Dixie's got spunk to spare! Click here to hear her rant at Dimbo.
Where does Dimmy have space? Oh, I though it was between his ears. ;-)

Turnabout is fair play! Dixie came to Tad's rescue and got the information out of Dimmy. Once she gave it to Tad... he couldn't speak, he was so moved... but these two don't need words...

Once Tad got Brooke and Jamie to return from the Ukraine, he popped in on Stuart to talk about Camille's remains and how he wasn't able to give her what she needed... he wasn't able to give Gloria what she needed either... Stuart (I always knew the man was brilliant) innocently got Tad to admit something...

Tad then had a lovely memory of Dix, Junior, and himself under the Christmas wishing star. :::sigh::: When he got home... he had company. :-) Seems that Jamie wanted company and had called Dix and Jr. over. They were having popcorn. Jr. wanted to stay over... and suggested that his mom stay too!

Tad seemed to like the idea. Dixie "doesn't do sleepovers" (bummer!) but allowed Jr to stay. The boys lined up for a good-night hug from Dix... Tad thought he'd sneak one in too!

Once they boys went to bed, Tad and Dixie shared some laughs and some great old memories.

Dixie knew she was getting "too comfortable" back in their old house and wanted to leave. Tad kept trying to get her to stay.

Seems to me that Dixie didn't trust herself to stay around Tad for much longer! (Remember Napa? ;-)) Just as she was about to leave, the lights dimmed... brownout. Tad mentioned sticking to his sheets... hmmm... The lights came back on...

...but then went completely out. There was a search for a flashlight, Dix stubbed her toe.. Tad found his dustbuster! When the lights came back on... he found something else...

Oh boy! That's one spicy meat-a-ball! Tad and Dix shared some more memories, and cleared the air about Jonas (thank you TPTB for remembering!) who just couldn't make Dixie laugh... well, by the way things looked today, Tad has NO TROUBLE in that dept!

The lights finally came back on but Dixie thought it best to get some candles... she looked in the drawer where they used to be. Tad seemed to enjoy watching her look. (bad Tad! LOL) She ended up finding a tie that Jr gave Tad... a fish tie. ewwwwwwwww... Tad refused to put it on...he dared Dixie. Not for a million bucks? Well then, said Tad, how about a bowl of Rocky Road? That did it. But she needed some help with the windsor knot... is it warm in here? ai yai yai.

Just then, Liza (who has the timing of a slug) barged in totally killing the mood... Dixie frosted over quicker than a polar bear in winter. But Liza recognized what she had interupted. Here's what she said:
Even she sees "chemistry."
And she can point it out to Tad too! Go Liza!
And Adam tells Dixie not to worry about Tad and Liza.
Tad and Dix keep bumping into each other... literally. Tad tried to talk to Dixie about their breakup but Dix won't listen. Doesn't want to relive the pain. They had a squabble over at Palmer's until Palmer burst in and tried to run things as usual. Dixie told him to "butt out" and got a big smile out of Tad. So, she chewed him out too! Tad left in a huff and Dix vented at Palmer for LYING to Opal and keeping SECRETS from her. Hmm... sounds familiar. Meanwhile, Tad didn't seem to be making headway with his promise to keep Brooke out of prison. Dixie keeps goading him, trying to get him to do something. Tad will admit to nothing. Says they'd need a miracle. He hasn't been able to think of a thing. ;-) Sure Tad. Dixie's not buying it... she knows just who gave her a crash course in miracles and how he's always there to protect his own.

Does she KNOW HIM or what? Planting evidence, wow! Scoundrel Tad is back. >:) But he did keep his promise. He pulled that one out of the fire. On to the next crisis. Junior's been kidnapped!! OH NO! Lee Hawkins grabbed both Junior and Hayley. In an attempt to pursuade Lee to give up the kids, Dixie, at Tad's suggestion, dons a disguise to make herself look like Joy, Lee's wife. (she also looks a lot like she did way back when! Well, to me she does. LOL)

The ordeal is hard for her and Tad comforts her once it's over.

Now begins the waiting game. But Dix is so overwrought over her son she can't take it. Again, Tad reassures her. She's strong, he knows she can get through this.... but then she passes out cold!! Tad catches her in the nick of time.

He rushes her to the ER at PV Hospital and begs Jake to find out what's wrong. Poor Tad is besides himself with worry. Even when Dix comes to, and Jake says he can't find anything wrong with her test results... Dixie asks "Are you sure?" CLUE: something is definitely WRONG. When Jake asked her if she had any previous medical problems. (A missing kidney comes to mind, duh.) She replied no. But the look that passed between her and Tad was unmistakeable... she's hiding something from him. :(

The best medicine for Dixie was getting her son back. Boy does that kid take after his father. He escaped!... but he's so traumatized that he can't speak.

Ah, but that's not the end, oh no. Tad got Junior to open up. Played some baseball (roll of tape) with him and they found out where psycho Lee was hiding Hayley. Still don't know the results of Dixie's blood tests. ::RETTC:: Dixie was doling out the praise for Tad that day. "Tad is a wonderful man. He can work miracles." Tad was saying the same thing about Dixie. Aren't they too precious? :) At any rate.... guess who showed up to ruin things? Come on, you know... one guess... Ah! That's right... Liza. She offered her friendship and coffee to Dixie. Dix didn't want to be around her, tried to leave. Liza persisted. Then told Dixie if she's still hung up on the "affair" from 2 years ago... "GET OVER IT, Tad and I have." Well, Dix didn't take to being told what to do too well and called Liza an unhappy, bitch. Tad walked in on that little announcement. Liza blubbered something and left. Tad then basically told Dixie to get over it too. Smart move, dude. She left. Oh, Tad's little stunt with the pictures ended up winning the case for Brookie pie. whoopie.
