Batman (1966)


CRASH! POW! ZAP! - these were all familiar "fight scene" phrases used in the 1960's Batman series as well as in the Batman movie of that same era. The 1966 Batman movie was a comedic view of the Batman myth. Using campy dialog and plots, this humorous take on Batman became a huge success and even now has a cult following. Adam West portrayed Batman, and to this day is considered by most people to be the original Batman. Adding to the movie's success was a cast of pure genius:

Plot:
The movie pits Batman and Robin against their 4 biggest foes: The Joker, The Riddler, The Penguin and Catwoman. The Penguin has hatched a dastardly plan to dehydrate the members of sort of a United Nations. With the help of The Riddler, The Joker and Catwoman he kidnaps the inventor of the dehydration machine and sets out to complete his plan. Bruce falls in love with a beautiful Russian reporter, Ms. Kitka, who turns out to be Catwoman. Batman and Robin succeed in capturing the villains, but not after they have already dehydrated their targets. Batman and Robin must re-hydrate the victims and save the day. The movie is filled with the wonderful humor that was present on the tv series as well. Batman and Robin make use of numerous vehicles and gadgets in this film, which in turn prompted tons of vehicles and gadgets in the 4 new films.
