Batman News:

Not updated but good for a laugh...

Batman 5:
Ok, Warner brothers has announced that there will be no new Batman movie for at least three years. What does this do to any previous rumors about the next movie? Right now, nothing. Anything discussed might still happen, but it will be some time before it does. This could be both good and bad. By waiting so long to make another movie, Warner may do a spectacular job and revive the franchise. For us fans, however, this means we will have to go without a new movie until after 2000. Only time will tell.

Previous Rumors:
It has basically been confirmed that Batman 5 - Batman the Dark Knight - will be released in the Summer of 2000. Originally scheduled to be released in 1999 for the 60th anniversary of Batman, the date was pushed back due to the release of Superman Lives. George Clooney has been talked about as returning as Batman, and his contract with Warner Brothers would seem to make the rumor true. As of now, however, it is still unconfirmed if he will return. Early rumors have The Scarecrow and Harley Quinn listed as the two villains in the movie. Recently, however, Warner Brothers has been stating that there is to be only ONE villain and that villain has not been set. A new rumor has the Scarecrow as being scrapped as the villain, and the Joker reappearing as the sole villain. Jack Nickolson's quote "Let's just say the Joker is coming...and that's no laughing matter", would seem to support this.
Newest sources say that Jack Nickolson was offered the role of the Joker again, but he turned it down. Also, there is talk of replacing George Clooney with Kurt Russel. This rumor has been all over the place and is claimed to be from Warner themselves. The title of the movie is rumored to have changed again to Batman: Illusions of the Past. This title goes along with the rumors that people from the previous films will be reprising roles;Kim Basinger as Vicki Vale, Nicole Kidman as Chase Meridian, Jim Carrey as the riddler, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. Warner Brothers is supposed to make an official press release in August. Until then we can only keep guessing. Various other names have been tossed around as far as casting:

The Batman and Superman Movie(aka World's Finest):
The Batman & Superman movie was released in August and was an instant success. This new aimated movie linked together the three episodes of the animated series that featured Batman & Superman teamed up against Lex Luthor and The Joker with Harley Quinn. The plot centers around Lex hiring the Joker to kill Superman with a large dragon statue made of kryptonite. Batman comes to Superman's aide and the heroes save the day. an interesting side plot has Bruce Wayne involved with Lois Lane. An excellent film to watch with a spectacular story and great animation. The film can be found in moie stores for both rental and purchase.

Batman- Sub-zero:
Batman: Sub-zero can still be found in stores. It has received great reviews by critics and fans alike. Once again, as in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, the excellent story and spectacular animation are what bring this film together.

Catwoman movie:
There have been rumors circulating about the possibility of a Catwoman movie. Tim Burton has expressed interest in directing and Michelle Pfeiffer has been rumored to be interested in starring in the film. Cameos by Batman / Bruce Wayne have been discussed with Michael Keaton in mind. Danny Elfman has been talked about for scoring the film. Burton has mentioned starting work on the film after Superman Lives is finished.

Batgirl movie:
Rumors have been surfacing about a spinoff movie from the Batman francise featuring Batgirl. No information has been confirmed as of yet, but Alicia Silverstone would seem to be the first choice for the role

Batman Special Edition:
There is talk of a re-release of Batman(1989) in theaters in 1999 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Batman character and the 10th anniversary of the first film.
Funny, this was the suggestion of this site's creator to WB. Re-release the first film the Summer of 1999 to rebuild the fanbase and finances following Batman & Robin. Hold off on a new Batman movie until 2000 to produce a better film. Maybe the thoughts of the creator of this page do not go unheard. There will be about 20 min of additional footage added. The newest information has the movie only being released to video instead of the theaters. The thoughts of the creator of this page still seem to be unheard.

Batman live action t.v. show:
Yes you read it correctly, there is talk of making a live action Batman show. This would be the first live action appearance of Batman on t.v. since Adam West jumped onto the small screen in 1966. The creators of the show need to look at the successes and failures of Lois and Clark:the new adventures of Superman before continuing. As Robin form the 1966 series might say - Holy possibilities Batman!!!!

Batman - The Musical:
Yes you heard me, there is talk at Warner Brothers of making a Broadway musical with a Batman storyline and a Phantom of the Opera atmosphere. At first it sounds as idiotic as bat-crotch shots, but on a closer examination it might not be that bad. Early rumors have Batman / Bruce Wayne not singing at all, with all the singing done by supporting charaters: Alfred, Commissioner Gordon, the citizens of Gotham, and of course the villains. Singing villains don't sound so far fetched do they? Catwoman, Riddler, or the Joker singing fits there characters very well actually. They are crazy you know! No official confirmations have been made at this time.

Superman Lives(not Batman but might have Batsy in it):
Ok..here goes. Some say the movie has been postponed, others say it has been scrapped. One thing we can be sure of is that it won't be coming out anytime soon. There has also been talk of Nicholas Cage leaving or being paid to leave. I'm as lost as everyone else on this one...Somebody needs to make up their mind. Casting????:

SUPERMAN / CLARK KENT: Nicholas Cage--WHO KNOWS???
