Lasso Lou and Cowboy McCoy

"I love this book for its humor, its drawings and its suggestion, at the end, that there is more to cowboys than clothes.  ...Tedd Arnold, master of a winning cartoonish style..." Aaron Latham, New York Times Book Review, Dec. 2003

When Cowboy McCoy meets Lasso Lou, life at the Bo-Dee-Oh Ranch is never the same--but it is more fun! Together these plucky pardners do their best to meet every challenge.

I took one look at Barbara Larmon Failing's stories and knew this book would be fun to illustrate. I remember growing up on cowboy stories in comics and library books, movies and television. Cowboy McCoy is definitely the kind of cowboy I would be if I ever got up the nerve to try. When I was a boy of six, living on a farm with my three brothers, we had a horse named Montana and he was huge! He was also old and very tame. Montana would stand perfectly still in the yard and let us little kids climb all over him as if he was a playground jungle-gym. That's as close as I ever got to being a cowboy. Yippee-aye-oh!
