Chubb Hollow School is one of many one room school houses still in use today in the Fingerlakes Region of New York State. A large Mennonite farming community has built about 15 schools here. Note the two outhouses on the right. It was late summer and I was sketching this scene when I discovered the teacher was inside getting the place ready for the opening of school. We had a delightful conversation and she told me much about the Mennonite way of schooling.
