About a month ago we were praying about the younger sister of Num and Saw who the Walters and Allens are taking care of. Her name is Suay and she was in a really neglected situation. We didn't want to bite off more than we could handle by putting her with any of our families and so we decided to begin a home with Thai Christians caring for her needs. Two days after we had decided to do this, her older brother who has been addicted to drugs and sniffing glue most of his life, got on a bus and brought his sister to us. Since then the brother has come off drugs and is doing really well. The sister is also really opening up and starting to laugh and smile which is a big change.
The problem we are facing however, is within the relationships between the Thai Christians who are living at the home and taking care of the kids. Lets face it, it is hard for anyone to learn to live together and so they are having some struggles in learning to get along. I feel like God will work through this and use it to mature all of us, but we could really use your prayers that God would turn this home into a true house of love. Thank you for praying for this. I know you have a ton of things to pray for.

I talked about the situation in the ministry house we started in my last E-mail. It is really incredible what God has done. I talked individually with the three women who were having the conflicts and just tried to encourage them to go to each other when someone offended them. Of course this is easier for any of us to say than to actually put into practice when we are mad at someone. On Sunday however while we were taking communion Tim encouraged us to find another person to go confess our sins to and to take the communion together. These three women sat down together and I began to hear loud weeping as they confessed their sins to each other. Since then I have a lot more hope for this home. I feel like if these three women can learn to really live out the love of Christ together. That they will have learned how to love the orphans and outcast people that the Lord brings us. Thanks again for your prayers for the house of love. These women's names are Ying, Pong, and Gae.
One more request for this week. Our family is going to have to move soon, and I have been hoping that we could find two houses together so that our family could live in one and we could oversee the ministry to those coming out of Alchoholism and drug addiction in the house next door. Last week there were some evangelist that came to Bangkok from Europe and one of them who knew nothing about us was praying with Tim and said that the Lord's provision was coming for us, and that we were going to get two houses. This gave me a lot more faith to keep praying for this to work out. We found two houses that are vacant in our neighborhood that we think will work, but we haven't been able to contact the owner of one, and the other wanted too much rent. Please pray that God will provide the homes we need for the ministry that He is calling us to.
But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord's love is with those who fear
him, and his righteousness with their children's children -- with those who
keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. Psalm 103:17-18 |
