From Flåm we took the train to Myrdal, where
it was snowing in June. Along the way the train stopped at the Kjos Waterfalls.
Here a young woman appeared in the distance as the Huldra. In
legends the Huldra is like a lorelei; she entices people with
song and traps them in the mountain. The Huldra's song echoed
from the waterfalls. (Well, perhaps it was not really
the Huldra, but a recording by Asne Sunniva Søreide).
Hear a brief excerpt of the Huldra's song, reproduced with permission
from the producer Tom Rasmussen. If you have a Shockwave plug-in on your
computer, use the button below to hear first lines of her song.
