        Spring Equinox
        The Dramatic moment each year,
when night & day are of equal length !
The light & the dark are in perfect balance,
yet the sun is about to burst forth with new energy!
It is is also a time between time,
one of the eight seasonal celebration times,
during which we may much more easily move
from the world (earthly plane) level of reality
into the realms of the Fae Otherworld Realms,
hopefully to visit with The Fae & Merfolk. ;o)

        Long ago,
the quarter days were originally related to
        the cycles of the moon.
Wishing the calendars would still go by the moon,
because she is Our Lady of Healng Lights.
So Imbolc actually fell on the first full moon
        in Aquarius.

        March 20th - 21st
The equinox was called "Alban Eiler",
Light of the Earth, by Celtic ancestors.
        & w/ Celtic-Irish & Scotch-Fey Queen Mother Danu
To us, Flower Faced Fae-Queen Mother -- Giver of Life
Also, She is Called "Blodeuwedd", In Celtic-Welsh
        (pronounced: "blod-oo-eeth")
Also Called by the Teutonic :"Ostara", "Ostera".
By the Saxon's Spring Goddess, was originally
        called "Eostre"

        Also Celebrate Closest Full Moon
& Easter is -1st sunday after the full moon
        of spring equinox.
Easter comes directly from the word "Eostre".
Easter was first designed to coincide
        with Pagan celebrations
of The Goddess Ostara. ( or "Eostre")
        (Various symbolic names
        from similar cultures for "Spring")
The fertile Mother Nature Goddess of Spring.

In Springtime Celtic Lore She is Mother of Fertility,
yet also of Enchantment, Innocence & the Dawn.
The Welsh "Blodeuwedd Is Goddess of Earth's Renewal
& Faery Queen Giver of Life.
          She is called "Flower Face"
& is one of a long line of "Flower Women"
          created in the Otherworld & revered by the Celts.flwrfey © 98 & 99-Flower Face Fae Qwn/copyright by flwrfey 1998
The trails & patches of white clover,
seen in green grass & springtime fields,
are said to mark a "Flower Woman's" path!
private image-fey qwn imageprivate image-fey-qwn image
In Welsh-Celtic mythology, Blodeuwedd is said to be
able to shapeshift into an Owl.
          boulet-owl lady pic.
Thus, she is also a symbol of wisdom & the waxing moon.flwrfey © 98 &99-private image-tiny owl eyes pic.
However, She is usually pictured with a face as lovely
          as an open flower face
& springtime flowers making up her hair .
She holds an egg (or eggs) in her hand,
her dress flows like nine mystical ocean waves
going down into "Tara", the green earth,
with bunnies playing at her feet.

It is also a nice time to reflect upon
          the legendary Irish Sidhe Beauty
"Étaín" of the Golden Braids of four locks each,
in her pretty purple cloak & to reflect on
          Sidhe Mounds & Fae-Swans.

The Green Man of The Fae-Folkprivate image-greenman
          Often around this seasonal time
Fae-kith also call upon a Fae Mentor
known as the Green Man of The Fae.
He is a sacred Spirit Daddy of forests, woods & trees.
The Green Man embodies the spirit of growth & magic found in Nature.
          jbl-statues-greenman-dijon
This real Ancient Celtic Stone Carving of the Green Man
was found in Dijon & is from before 400 BCE.

Note: The fearlessly independent Celts &
tribes of Pictish-Celts were not a people
who took kindly to attempts at trying to dominate them.
When Roman soldiers first encountered Celts,
          even the Celtic defenders
(of their Celtic faith, land & way of life-)
were described as "looking like fiercely strong & wild
woodspeople whose hair was bleached very blonde
from lime", often due to working to carve
          these images into limestone.
          The elaborate lime-stone carving above,
is an example of this joyous dedicated artistry.
(After that era, the images of Foliate Heads,
in some places began to change somewhat,
possibly due to outside cultural influences.)
Since this awesome art form eventually spread to
          Romanesque & Gothic Cathedrals
& began to show foliage also sprouting from the mouth.

However long before that, Foliate Head images
had always been central to the nature loving
          Ancient Celtic Cultures
          of Pre Christian Europe.

As the male consort/counterpart to Mother Nature,
          he also symbolized, fertility, regeneration,
          inspiration & prophecy.

The Green Man helps males balance away from
male dominator images, thus helping to protect nature.
The Green Man does not rule over Mother Nature
he assists her as a companion or consort
& symbolizes helping her protect natural life
          in the earth's physical/material realm.
"As an archetype of mature masculine energy in balance
          with the natural world."
Like "Kernunnos,... his rich calm image is ideal for modern males seeking to rebalance away from dominator."
The Green Man.. "the male counterpart of the
Great Mother Goddess venerated since neolithic times." *jbl.

"Green, the predominant shade of Spring Equinox
& "favorite colour of the Faeries",
combines blue with the yellow from the Sun.
Lavender, for example blends ice blue with fire red-
like the sun melting the snow in springtime.
Blues become softened to lavenders & reds soften to pinks."
          *L.C.

          Ways to Celebrate Spring Equinox
A very important reason behind all our magic,
is to remind us that we & all beings ARE a factor
in the larger scheme of all life.
Remember, that what we do on an individual level
to be positive & loving does effect the Whole!

We believe that as "The Source",
          our Heavenly Mother & Father
          are limitless
& can take on any loving form
          they choose !
Even when we see a little flower
we know that the same life energy
          that illuminates it,
illuminates all of Nature & Life.

Now is a wonderful time to start anew
replenishing & reseeding the soil of the earth
& contributing to the health of our planet,
          in whatever ways we can.
          This can be very joyous.
Wherever you go, (even on car trips or horse-back riding)
bring treats like fruit seeds, rose hips & sunflower seeds
& toss them along the highways, roadsides & paths.
This will help feed little birds & animals & sprout new flowers!
Yeah! What a simple, happy thing to do
          that helps Mother Nature
          & her children!
It is also fun to save
the hair that comes off in a long-haired
          person's brush after shampooing
& combing out all those tangles. gggrrrrr
Why not put it to good use for the birdie's,
collecting it like a little ball of yarn
& then setting it up in the trees like a
spool of golden thread for them
to help weave their little nests with.
Earth Day on April 22nd is also
a nice day to do this.

It is also fun to paint our faces like a Sun-Flower
or paint a little Sunflower on each cheek,
for the gathering to celebrate Spring Equinox.
Remember your Magic Mirror for spring scrying.
Welcome the Rainbow home after the storm.
Don't forget to put out treats for the Fae
& "Keep your eyes on the Bunny & the Bird."

This year we are planting a Hummingbird Garden.
There are so many wonderful nature nurturing things
to do in Spring & they are lot's of fun!

Try going Organic in your Farming,
          if you haven't already.
You will be so glad you did!

Have a Wonderful Fey Spring !

          More To Come!

          Brightest Blessings!
