William Gordon (5 May 1745 - 26 Apr 1812 at Moon Twp, Allegheny Co, PA) was possibly born in Scotland, emigrating to Pennsylvania at an early age. He married Prudence Hays (17 Sep 1748 - after 1820), daughter of David Hays and Mary _______ [see Hays for more detail] on 16 Jun 1770 in Northampton Co, PA. William served in the Pennsylvania colonial navy, being listed as the master of the sloop Fame on 29 Apr 1766 and the brig Clementine in Dec 1767. William and Prudence settled in Moon Twp, Allegheny Co, PA prior to the Revolution. He became a cabinet maker and built a small sawmill on his property near what is now the Greater Pittsburgh Airport. William is buried at Montour Cemetery and his tombstone denotes him as a Revolutionary War Veteran. The death date and burial site for Prudence are currently unknown.
William Gordon (circa 1784, Moon Twp, Alleghency Co, PA - ?) was born on the family farm near Montour's Meeting House. On May 7 1807 he was listed as a deserter from a regiment of the Pennsylvania Militia, being described as 23 years of age, 6 feet and one half inches tall, having black eyes, black hair, and a dark complexion.
James Cross, born about 1785 in Ireland, married Eleanor "Ellen" Gordon (circa 1787, Moon Twp, Allegheny Co, PA) before 1811 in Allegheny Co, PA. James and Ellen farmed in Beaver Co., PA for several years, then purchased a farm near New Cumberland, Hancock Co, VA(WV) where they lived out their remaining years. James died in 1836 and Eleanor on 9 December, 1864, possibly in Iowa Co, IA. Both are supposedly buried in the Three Springs Cemetery in Hancock Co.
Wilkinson Gordon Cross was born 13 Mar 1813 in Beaver Co., PA. On 4 Jun 1840 he married Mary Ramsey, daughter of Robert Ramsey and Susannah Leeper, born 11 Nov 1816. Wilkinson and Mary spent their lives farming in Beaver Co. Wilkinson died on 6 Jan 1859 and Mary survived him by 34 years, dying on 1 Oct 1893. Both are buried at Frankfort Springs Cemetery.
Susannah Cross was born 10 Apr 1841 on the family farm in Beaver Co, PA where she resided her entire life. Susannah never married and passed away on 17 Jan 1913. She is buried at Frankfort Springs Cemetery.

Nathaniel P Gordon was born on the family farm in Moon Twp, Allegheny Co, PA on 1 Jul 1793. He married Jane Gaston, daughter of James Gaston and Jane _______ [see Gaston - Page 4 for more details]. Jane Gaston was born 2 Oct 1792 in Washington Co, PA. Nathaniel was elected and installed as an elder in the Sharon Presbyterian Church at its inception in 1817. They farmed in Moon Twp where Nathaniel died in 1850. Jane passed away in 1879 in Allegheny Co, PA.
Gilbert Gaston Gordon was born on the family farm in Moon Twp, Allegheny Co, PA on 10 Jan 1832. He married, on 20 May 1875, Julia Ann Beer, daughter of Charles Beer (ca 1826) and Sophia Sandels (ca 1825). Julia was significantly younger than her husband, having been born in Nov 1855 at (possibly) Newport, KY. Gilbert was a farmer and died on 8 Jun 1892 when struck by lightning on his way back from the barn after milking. Julia survived him by 37 years, dying on 12 Jul 1929. Both were members of the Sharon Presbyterian Church, where Gilbert, like his father, was a ruling elder. Gilbert and Julia are buried at Sharon Presbyterian Cemetery.
