George Gordon, born circa 1698 at sea during his parent's migration from Ireland to America, died circa 1763 at Franklin Co, PA. He possibly married Sarah _______, though this is currently very speculative. On 28 Feb 1744, George "took up" 140 acres of land in Antrim Twp, Franklin Co, PA on the branches of Antietam Creek and the west side of the Susquehanna river. He may have had a sister, Isabella Gordon who married General Hugh Mercer and migrated to Fredricksburg, VA. He also may have had two brothers John and James Gordon who removed to VA when clear title to their PA lands could not be obtained.
George Gordon was born circa 1725 probably in PA and died in 1755, same. He married Mary Bell, of whom nothing is known but her name.
George Gordon was born circa 1755 probably in Franklin Co, PA, died 1826 at Warren Co, OH. He married Mary McLean (1754 - 1826) and removed first in 1789 to Fayette Co, KY, then circa 1800 to Warren Co, OH. George was a Revolutionary War veteran.
Henry Gordon was born 8 Jan 1734, probably in PA, and died 10 Aug 1809, same. He married circa 1757, Sarah Johnston, born 10 Jul 1736, died 18 Jun 1819. Henry was a Private in Capt. William Rippey's Company of the 6th PA Batallion in 1776 and served in the Second Canada Expedition during the Revolutionary War.
George Gordon was born 18 Apr 1758, probably in Franklin Co, PA. He married Mary Prather, born 31 Oct 1760 and died 26 Sep 1805. George served in the Revolutionary War.
William Gordon was born 29 Jul 1760, probably in Franklin Co, PA. He served in the Revolutionary War.
Susannah Gordon was born 7 Nov 1763, probably in Franklin Co, PA.
Elizabeth Gordon was born 3 Dec 1765, probably in Franklin Co, PA.
Alexander Gordon was born 10 Mar 1768, probably in Franklin Co, PA.
Sarah Gordon was born 28 Mar 1770, probably in Franklin Co, PA.
Mary Gordon was born 8 Jul 1772, probably in Franklin Co, PA.
Sarah Gordon was born circa 1749, probably in PA and died circa 1793 at Ohio Co, VA. She married on 22 Feb 1765, George Dement, born 10 Jan 1742 at Charles Co, MD, died 1798 at Ohio County, the son of William Dement and Mary. At the time of their marriage, the Dement family resided at Jerusalem Twp, Frederick Co, MD, possibly just across the border from Franklin Co, PA. George and Sarah migrated to Ohio Co, Va with the Dement clan about 1790, settling in the Valley Grove area, near the PA border.
Elizabeth Gordon married John Cunkleton, the son of Joseph Cunkleton, probably at Franklin Co, PA.
Prudence Gordon, born circa 1752, probably at Franklin Co, PA, married circa 1773, James Matthews, son of Alexander Matthews and Margaret. Prudence lived for a while near her sister Rachel at Trumbull Co, OH and died at Columbiana Co, OH.
Ruth Gordon, born circa 1752, probably at Franklin Co, PA, married circa 1773, Arthur Eckels, son of Charles Eckles. Arthur was born 1742 in Northern Ireland, and died in September, 1831 at Beaver Co, PA. After the death of Ruth at Beaver Co, Arthur married 2nd circa 1785, Abigail _______, the widow of Mr. Matthews. He married 3rd, _______ at about 1802. Arthur served under Benedict Arnold and took part in the invasion of Quebec during the Revolutionary War. He was a member of the 1st PA Regiment of the Continental Line from August, 1776 to August 1779. After moving to Washington Co, PA, he served the remainder of the war in the Washington County frontier Rangers. Arthur farmed in Washington Co. in Smith Twp. until 1781 when he sold his original farm. At various times he lived in Allegheny, Lawrence, and Beaver Counties.
Rachel Gordon, born 1754, probably at Franklin Co, PA, married circa 1775, William Matthews, son of George Matthews and Isabelle Eaton. William and Rachel migrated to Trumbull Co, OH in 1804. Rachel died on 9 Apr 1827 and William in 1834. Both are buried at the Old Presbyterian Cemetery at Kinsman, OH.
