Hugh Scott was born 19 Aug 1639 in the North of Ireland, migrated to Pennsylvania, and settled in Chester County about 1670. Traces of his early descendants may be found in Chester, York, Lancaster, and Adams Counties in PA, and in Cecil County, Maryland. His wife was Jane Carruthers, born 19 Aug(?) 1643, probably in Ireland.
Abraham Scott was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania in 1677. He married Margaret McFarland, born circa 1680, location unknown. It is their children who started the migration of this Scott line into western PA and Ohio. Abraham died in 1751 in Chester Co.
Anne Scott was born in October, 1699 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. She married circa 1720 Arthur Patterson, born circa 1700 and died in 1763 at Chester Co. Anne died in 1792 at the age of 92.
Rebecca Scott was born 17 December, 1707 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. She married in 1737, as his second wife, James Agnew, son of James Agnew and Eleanor Jamieson. James was born on 31 Jul 1711 at Balloo, County Down, Ireland and died on 2 Oct 1779 at Gettysburg, Adams Co, PA. Rebecca died on 22 Dec 1789. Both are buried at Lower Marsh Creek Cemetery.
