Little Girl, Big Message

Kaitlyn Mary Brown

A Child's Love Never Fades

From the heart of Derek and Jeanette Brown

Kaitlyn's life may have been short, but the effect of her life on everyone - not just her parents - she touched is everlasting. Someone said that the eyes are the windows to the soul: Kaitlyn's certainly were ! She may have had weak heart - a heart that gave us only eight precious months - but her soul was never stronger; her unconditional love never more pure. Kaitlyn not only just changed many lives, she changed forever the way these lives are now lived. Kaitlyn's mother, Jeanette, now works as a teacher's aide for the Space Coast Early Intervention Center in Melborne, Florida, is an active parent advocate for Parent-To-Parent network, and helped start a local Respite program. Her father, Derek, writes constantly to literally every level of government, and has had several editorials published in newspapers, all in the effort to promote the very real contributions special people can truly offer to our communities. Sara , her neighbor, babysitter, best friend, future pediatrician for children with special needs - and the person entirely responsible for the idea and design of this page and almost all of it's content - was probably changed most of all. We have these lives today because of Kaitlyn, but we live them these ways for you. For your son, your daughter, your brother, your sister.... for you.

"Sing on somewhere, at some new moon;
We'll learn that sleeping is not death.
Hearing the whole Earth change it's tune."
- W.B. Yeats

I owe a large "Thank You" to Derek and Jeanette Brown. Not only for allowing me to share in the joys of Kaitlyn's life, but for all of the support I have recieved from them. I would not have become the person I am today without their love and guidance. I truly miss them in New York. A big hug to Derek, Jeanette, and Faith Brown and hope to see you all again soon !! Love, Sara
