The trick-or-treater went up to the front door and discovered that it was wide open!  "Let's go inside until the rain stops", said Joey Pumpkinhead, who was the oldest of the trick-or-treaters.  Seeing that no one else was moving, he added, "Don' t tell me you think this place is haunted?  It's just an empty old house!"

The younger children didn't want to admit they were afraid, so they entered the house.  It was very, very dark inside.  They could see nothing and the only thing they could hear was the ceaseless creaking of the door.
