"La Mucuy Alta Recreational Area" is a heaven for trekkers going up or coming down Sierra Nevada. Clean and safe, its camping area have minimum services: Rest rooms (no showers) and drinking water. Besides, the restaurant is open during holidays. Camping here costs Bs. 1000 (US$ 1.70) by night for each tent.

Jeeps coming from Tabay leaves travelers at Ranger House, open from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm. Everybody going up to Sierra through this area must get a trekking pass. It costs Bs. 300 (US$ 0.50) by night/tent plus Bs. 100 (US$ 0.20) by person/day (venezuelan) or Bs. 500 (US$ 0.85) by person/day (foreigner).
