        BRAIN WAVE ACTIVITY

There are 5 stages of consciousness.
These stages are recorded by an Electroencephalogram (EEG) which measures electrical impulses sent by neuron firings in the synapses of the brain.

        Beta Waves

        - Alert and Conscious - 13 cycles per second or more if excited.

        Alpha Waves

        - Quietness but Awareness- Meditation- 10 cycles per second.

        Theta Waves

Almost Asleep-hypnogogic state -Difficult to Maintain- 6-7 cycles per second.

        Delta Waves

        - Deep Sleep- More body movement and activity- 4-6 cycles per second.

        R.E.M.

        - Rapid Eye Movement- Dreaming State- Paradoxical Sleep. Very similar to Beta Waves on the EEG. The body becomes paralyzed.
