Blackfoot

After leaving Uriah Heep, in 1980, Ken Hensley spent some time with his own band Shotgun, and after some UK gigs, he moved to the US. There, he also played some gigs under the name "Ken Hensley Band", and then joined the great Southern Rock band Blackfoot.

Blackfoot

Together with Rickey Medlocke (lead vocal and guitar), (lead guitar), Greg T. Walker (bass) and Jackson Spires (drums), Ken Hensley played 2 years with Blackfoot. Two albums were released: "Siogo" (1983) and "Vertical Smiles" (1984).

"Siogo" was a great album, actually one of Blackfoot's best albums. Ken's keyboards and composing skills gave a fresh input to the band. "Send Me An Angel", "Teenage Idol" and other strong tunes made it a very powerful work.

After this album, original member Charlie Hargrett left the band, and they released "Vertical Smiles", a good album, but not as strong as "Siogo". It's said that some of the best (and heavier) songs were left out this work, due to the record company's pressure. "Livin' In The City" was one of these great songs, and it was played live constantly. Anyway, there were also some great tunes on this album, like "Morning Dew" and "A Legend Never Dies".

After knowing about David Byron's death (original Heep's singer), Ken left the band, and retired from touring since then. Blackfoot kept going, but without Ken.

Now, King Biscuit Flower Hour Records, famous for releasing some great live CD's, including bands like Uriah Heep, ELP, Deep Purple, and many more, puts another CD out: Blackfoot live in Hollywood, 1983 !!!
