Bulgaria Trip Diary
"Yummee... A Purple One!"
Day 8
John and Iris
left early for the airport so I had breakfast with Peter, met George Sofkin the
"vertically challenged" head of the "Little people of Bulgaria" and former
special olympic and world champion badminton player (I am always amazed by
people who confront, challenge and overcome disability!).
During the 2 ½
hour drive to Sofia (the capital and largest city) Airport I finished my latest
John Grisham book and threw it away. The ending was terrible which was a real
disappointment to me because I am huge fan of his and have read all his other
books!
"Hey
Ruf! Now he´s trying to impress us with his intelligence!"
"That´s okay
hon… it won´t work, least not on me … just keep reading please, you´ll see why
in a minute"
The cameras
were there waiting for me, all the way up to the time I rode the escalator
waving goodbye.
While I was
waiting in line to check in, a stunningly beautiful Bulgarian blonde girl came
up to me and asked for an autograph and I waited, pulse racing, ready to do
anything for her. As I was signing she felt it necessary to tell me that her
mother (not quite so stunning) was a big fan but couldn´t speak English and I
reminded myself that I don´t like blondes anyway!
So… a
problem-free flight, a quick change in Barcelona and I was home, almost ready to
have a change of heart about airlines etc…. Until one bag failed to show
up, stuck in Barcelona!!
"Ha… check this out Rufus. They got him in the end …. HA!"
"Rufus! Rufus! Are you sleeping through this?"
I gave up and
went outside to meet Alberto and reached for my very last wine gum. And
yummee, it was a purple one!!
God bless,
Ken
