Germany/Bulgaria Trip Diary
"Singing in the Rain..."
Day 7
Alarm went off,
got up, staggered around, showered, grabbed my stuff and headed downstairs.
They called me to make sure I was up and they had prepared a snack for me (the
restaurant was closed) and my taxi came bang on time. 25 minutes and 10
LEVS (5 Euros) later I was in line to check in for my flight.
Everything was
going too smoothly and I could smell a fish the way only a seasoned traveller
can. Checked in, went to the gate and then to the coffee shop nearby where
I could get on the internet. Boarding time came and went and, from the
departure lounge, I could see there were some big Bulgarian guys standing by the
nose wheel and scratching their heads. I knew we were in trouble and of
course I didn´t believe a word the girls at the counter were saying. But I
found a representative of Bulgarian Air and she knew who I was, hustled me into
the business class lounge and upgraded me. Being a legend has its
advantages you know.
Business class
on this airline is EXACTLY the same as coach/economy… it´s just a bit nearer the
front. The seats are the same, the sandwich is no younger and they still
treat you with contempt. Even if you are a legend!
"You want a
second cup of coffee"??
In the end we
arrived in Alicante 4 hours late but all my bags showed up and I was nearly home.
The weather was crap, it was raining like crazy but I was happy. So now,
instead of the audience in Calw, it was me who was singing in the rain.
God bless,
Ken

PS… if any of
you are wondering what happened to Rufus and Hon in this episode I am happy to
tell you that they had visa problems and I have no idea if we´ll ever hear from
them again!
