Day 7

Up at….. aaaaggghh….. WAY too early but animated to get packed and downstairs for my "web therapy".  This morning was busy because Sasho had invited me to his boat (he sells boats!) for a quick spin around the harbour and I gleefully accepted.

But first we went to look at where George is thinking of building a studio here.  Then we had to hit the road for the 5-hour drive to Sofia.  It's actually only 300 kms but the roads are not that great and it's wise to leave extra time.

As it happened we didn't have too much time to spare, especially when we found out we were at the wrong terminal.  This was entirely my fault for assuming (stupidly) that the travel agent in Bulgaria knew what he/she was doing!  They had me booked on something called Wizz Air which I imagine is a mis-spelt pun on the word "whiz".  Anyway it's a stupid name and it doesn't exactly inspire confidence, especially when, like that other famously idiotic "bus line with wings", they don't issue seat assignments, leaving the fare paying passenger to fight it out with all the other passengers for a decent seat!  The name is silly enough but you should see the planes (preferably from a distance and while you are waiting for a flight on a real airline)…..  They are chartreuse, lilac and purple which perfectly matched the flight attendants polo shirts.

Regardless of all this we managed to arrive late but safe in Barcelona and I had to run to my connection just in time to get on the bus….  And then get off it again!  There was something wrong with the plane and I can only say that I am glad they discovered this little problem while it was on the ground!  I arrived in Alicante, my bag and guitars arrived in Alicante and the miracle was complete.  I am so happy to be home!

Now I have some time off to celebrate Monica's birthday and prepare for the Heepvention 2008 which is being held near Granada, about a 5-hour drive from here.  It's much further than the drive from Sozopol to Sofia but the roads in Spain are, well, roads.

More soon…

God bless,
Ken
