"It's not just Tulips and Cheese…..  To Norway, Holland and Bulgaria"

Day 5

This being Whitsun weekend, we were advised to leave early for Goes, the next town, close to the western coast of Holland.

Apparently thousands of people use this road over this weekend and so we followed this advice ….

Of course there was no traffic at all and we slid into Goes with no problem and a little time on our hands.

Then some strange things happened ….

Goes is a nice town, small but clean and pleasant. Our hotel was in the centre and sat at the side of a really nice square which was a pedestrian area, surrounded by cafés which were full

A nice location (and a really nice hotel by the way) but it meant we had to carry our bags a long way from the car park.

Actually we wouldn´t have found the hotel at all if it hadn´t been for the kindness of two senior citizens on bicycles who offered to guide us there when they saw that we were obviously lost!

Many of you know Louis Rentrop who heads up all things Heep in the Netherlands and he had organised a little meet & greet at the venue and arranged for the promoter to pick me up at the hotel.

It was good to see Louis and everyone and we took some pictures, argued some trivia and then I had a couple of interviews to do.

I am not exaggerating when I say that those of you who have been with me and the music over all these years continue to be a major source of encouragement and inspiration to me and I hope we can go on sharing and enjoying these moments for a long time to come!

Our sound check was late and they had to hold the doors. All of this really dampened the level of enthusiasm but we summoned the energy to do the show and enjoyed the participation of the fans.

It was a late night and not a particularly satisfying one but we kept our spirits up and planned our attack on tomorrow.
