Hensley & Wetton
The last bunch of rehearsals for the upcoming December 8th gig happened between November 26th and 30th... Martin Darvill speaks:"Ken, John, Dave, Andy, John Y and Steve spent all last week together rehearsing for December 8. Added to earlier rehearsals, this makes 3 weeks in total and is a testament to the professional approach to the concert. Nothing less would be expected. It's also a testament to their professionalism that none of these renowned pranksters played any practical jokes. No horses entered the rehearsal studio, no-one released the tigers, no exploding cigarettes or whoopee cushions, the worst thing that happened was 4 mobile phones going off during a July Morning quiet section. Oh, and spontaneous versions of the Hawaii 50 theme and an interesting parody of Gene Pitney's "Runaway" suggestively improvised..........
The set received several full run throughs and it is quite clear that the audience next week are in for a magical journey through the careers of John and Ken. John's voice is as good as I've heard in years, a new fitness regime visibly rejuvenating, and Ken plays each song with a passion that reflects the belief he has in the band.
We are all looking forward to next week's show and to sharing with the audience a very special occasion."
