Hi Everyone!
Just wanted to give you all an update on the
progress of my new CD,
" Love… and other mysteries
"…..
All the tracks are done and the record is about
75% complete. As you may have seen (and if not, why not?) this is
a very busy month for me so I am running between the studio and
shows all over the place but we are making fantastic progress.
Glenn Hughes sang a stunning duet with
Santra Salkova, a beautiful and wonderful young female
vocalist from Bulgaria, Pau Chafer, a young genius from
Valencia is handling all of the (real) piano stuff and his
stunning partner Sarah Rope will bring a voice that it is
incredible to two songs, one in Spanish.
We have two great vocal performances from
Irene Fornaciari (the daughter of Zuchero) and
Roberto Tiranti who bring a flavour of Tuscany to the record
and, later this month, my favourite Viking (and the lead singer of
Live Fire, among other things) Eirikur Hauksson is coming
to Spain to add his magic.
To record Matt dela Pola's great string
arrangements we have brought in a quartet from Cuba who are so
good it's scary!!
Throw in the extreme talent of my studio guys,
Ovidio Lopez, Juan Carlos Garcia and Antonio
Fidel, mix it with Dani's very special gift as engineer
and co-producer and the support of everyone at the record company
and maybe you can get a little sense for what an exciting time it
is.
The CD itself will be very different from Blood
On The Highway and, to my delight, it represents some big steps
forward for me as a lyricist and composer.
From the beginning we allowed the songs to
direct the production and this has been a challenging, if slightly
risky approach, resulting in some pretty incredible results.
We started with the songs as the focus (more
specifically, the lyrics) and this has allowed us to understand
exactly what each individual song was asking for as we recorded
it/them. It also means that the CD will come with a lot of bonus
pieces designed to help you share this focus and take the songs as
you want to or need to.
The first video is done and waiting only for the
final audio mix. We shot it in St. Petersburg, Russia, with
director Igor Burloff.
I am happy and I am presently blessed with good
health so I can give 100% of my energy to these various musical
projects.
As we get closer to being able to predict a
release date, we will announce it here so please stay tuned …
"And so, this thing called love remains a
mystery,
Until we find out who it is that holds the
key,
The greatest love awaits us all, yes, you
and me,
And the wonder of it all is that it's free!"
