“Blood On The Highway”… an update…
Hi Everyone!
As you know, the Blood On The Highway CD
is mixed and will be mastered next week.
Just to refresh the picture, it is not a solo CD
in the strict sense of the word, but it IS a concept CD that tells
the story of the life of a rock star in the 70s, from the very
beginning, through all of the natural (and some of the less
natural) dynamics that were involved.
The idea began when Jurgen Jakobsen, the head of
Membran, read the first edition of my book and asked if we could
tell this story musically. I thought about it and looked through
my song book and said “yes, I think we can do that”. So I wrote
three new songs and recorded them, Jurgen and Ronald David flew
down to Alicante, listened to the songs and we did the deal over
lunch at the beach!
I did write the songs, I did produce the CD and
of course I did play Hammond, synth and a lot of guitars but I
also was lucky enough to get help from Glenn Hughes, Jorn Lande,
Eve Gallagher and John Lawton on lead vocals. I ended up singing
lead on two songs and I am happy to be in such illustrious
company!
We also used 24 strings from The Alicante
Symphony on two songs and the end result is simply the best record
I have ever made… EVER!
There are fantastic plans being made for the
launch and support of this project and all of the “official”
announcements will be made in mid-March with the media blitz to
follow soon after that.
The second edition of my book will be released
at the same time and both will be promoted in parallel through
every media resource possible.
It is one of the most exciting times of my life
and I can only say that, at this stage of my life and career, I am
a very happy and thankful guy!!
Whoever said that “the best is yet to come” was
dead right!!
More as soon as I have it …
God bless,
Ken
