Friday
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Is someone murdering an elk?? What is happening?
The construction started at 8:30 am.
They were practising with every power tool
you can think of. Drills, Sanders, Jack Hammers, Jill hammers, you name
it! Two doors away from me and there was no possible way to get away from
the noise! The elks were fine though. (I know… the plural of Elk is…. Elk
but I like elks better and anyway you know what I mean!!)
I am not going to go into my
smoking/non-smoking tirade again… but I could. Anyway my room had a nice
little deck with a table and chairs, overlooking a beautiful fjord.
Fishing boats were coming and going and it really was quite pleasant.
Still trying to wake up (and promising myself a long siesta later), I climbed
downstairs to join Sid and Erik for breakfast.
The venue for this festival was perhaps two
minutes walk from the hotel so we had plenty of time to relax, walk around town
and simply relax. Nice.
My siesta was a bit too long and I woke up
not knowing where I was or what I was supposed to be doing…. it was a bit weird
but I slowly regained my senses and got ready for the gig.
No greasy burgers for me tonight!
Someone explained to me that the show was
originally supposed to happen in the centre of town but that they moved it to
this new venue because of the number of people they were expecting, which all
makes sense, unless, that is, you don’t bother to tell the people who bought
tickets!! Sounds silly I know but that’s what happened and when we
approached the stage it was strangely silent…. no vibe, no buzz…. bummer!
So we jammed hard for the 50 or so people
they had squeezed in there and went back to the dressing room to be entertained
by Ken who began dancing on (and subsequently falling off of) a table!! We
had fun but it was disappointing to see the result of such a major blunder by
the promoter.
To bed, to
bed I have a boat to catch in the morning.
