Friday - April 4th 2003

Monica and I arrived in Moscow after an overnight flight from Madrid and then had the chance to grab a few hours sleep before the schedule began.

Eugene from Sony Music picked us up and we headed to their office in the centre of Moscow on a cold, wet day that reminded me of England!!! (Sorry, your Majesty!!). I like Moscow… it's bit grimy this time of year and people drive like total loonies but it does have a charm that, for me at least, is quite irresistible!

After a meeting at the office we went to MTV for a "News Block" interview and then to Open Rock Radio. After lunch we went back to the office for meetings to discuss the details of the show with the Presidential Orchestra in Moscow on the 26th. Because it involves a major Orchestra (43 pieces) and because it is being filmed and recorded for a DVD, there are obviously a lot more details to be considered but really it boils down to planning the concert and then doing what needs to be done to properly integrate the 12 (or so) cameras that will be used. The "film factor" mandates that additional consideration has to be given to lighting too.

There will be two parts to the show and the first 75 minutes will start with just myself and the orchestra for five songs and then the band will join us. After the first set there will be a short intermission and then the band and I will do our normal show. It's going to be a very special night and I am happy that the many of you that would like to be there but can't be, will be able to enjoy it later this year when the DVD comes out (I am still juggling the set lists but as soon as I have them finalised, I'll include them here).

Anyway, we eventually got back to the hotel, grabbed a snack in the bar and went to catch some sleep before another day of press etc.

Next day...
