The flight was painless and we managed to get a
little more sleep, arriving in Omsk right on time. Omsk is
the Southernmost city in Siberia but it was still minus 8 degrees
when we arrived!!
But we had been warned so we were all wrapped up
I don't know
if I was ready for the TV interview at the airport and I can only
hope I said the right things!! Alexander Kolesnikov was there
to meet us with his sister Olga and they had some beautiful
roses for Monica which was very nice. I had hoped to be able to
visit Alexander's home but the schedule just wouldn't allow us to
so we'll wait for next time.
There was time for a few hours sleep though, then lunch and the
press conference, all of which was complicated by the fact that
President Putin was in town for a regional conference and
so a lot of the roads were either closed or "restricted".
I wish this guy would stop following me around and I'll have to
have a chat with him when we rehearse in The Kremlin next
week! Seriously now
it must be an amazing challenge to be
President of a country like Russia that is growing so quickly and
facing so many challenges (more of this later).
In spite of all this we made it to sound check and prepared for
another sold-out show!! Well, this was the best show so far!! The
new set list works perfectly and the audience was amazing
definitely the best singers on the tour to date. And, once again
I noticed how young the audience is! We have continued with the
"relaxed" show security and it continues to work well
and helps the atmosphere a lot!
We are playing "The Last Dance" (title track from
the new CD) in the set and it's going down really well, especially
considering it's a brand new song! But it was one of those nights
when everything just fit together and the energy was tremendous.
A great night, but we didn't have much time to celebrate it as we
had to hurry back to the hotel, throw our bags together, grab some
food and get to the station for our midnight train ride to Chelyabinsk,
en route to Magnitogorsk for the next show.
Next
day...
