Friday - April 18th 2003
I think I've finally caught up on what day it actually
is!! Sorry for any confusion folks…
These overnight trains aren't bad and they are usually on time but
to be perfectly honest I do miss my bed!! However… we arrived
on time and checked in to the hotel to get a short siesta before
going to sound check.
The theatre was absolutely beautiful but it was an opera theatre
so we had to work a little harder than usual to "dial in"
a solid stage sound. There was a huge orchestra pit between the
stage and the first row of seats and despite the enthusiasm of the
sold-out crowd it's really hard to "connect" with the
audience from such a distance. Of course it doesn't help that I
can't see that far without my glasses (which I don't wear when I
am playing) but we gave the "blur" everything we had anyway!!
After the show we enjoyed a really nice dinner (we are certainly
eating well on this trip!) and then headed for the hotel and……
BED!! At the dinner, one of the sponsors (T1 Mobile) presented me
with a really nice mobile phone (not activated of course!) and I
have to say again that we have been treated really well on this
trip.
The UFA City show has been re-scheduled for Monday now so there
are three to go before we go back to Moscow. Right now though I
am enjoying this day off with no travel and looking forward to an
early night!!
