September 25th 2003

Actually it was 8:30 because Bryansk is on Moscow time. Now it’s really going to be difficult to watch qualifying for the US Grand Prix!! Straight to the hotel, a quick breakfastand time to shower.

Bryansk is a very, very small industrial town and quite dirty… but the people are really friendly and helpful.

I hadn’t been able to get to the internet for days and was beginning to feel a bit “stranded” but no point complainign or worrying… that wouldn’t solve the problem would it?

We were at the best hotel in town and it was terrible really. I won’t go into details… it’s just that sometimes things are beyond our control and it becomes necessary to simply make the best of it.

Lunch, however, was absolutely spectacular!! When we arrived at the restaurant I was presented with tons of flowers and some of the nicest people you can imagine. The food was typical of the region and was wonderful. We left… looking forward to dinner there later!

Unfortunately the PA and lights were not exactly what they were supposed to be so we all had to set about getting the most out of it all.

I am fortunate that this team is willing to knuckle down rather than complain and we ended up with quite a good sound. Jorge was missing some effects and we are hoping they will arrive tomorrow. I had a little chat with the promoters and I am sure something will be done.

The theatre was full to overflowing (apparently this concert was a big deal here) and the show itself went really well.

I am here for one thing and one thing only and that’s the people who pay to get in and I work hard to keep everyone focussed on that. In the end the crowd loved it and we were rewarded for a lot of hard work and some good old fashioned “stiff upper lip”!

A couple of quick interviews and off to dinner. Tomorrow’s not such an early start so we can rest a bit.

Next day...
