February 5th 2003

Well, the drums sound great and we were ready to cut tracks by mid-afternoon. Sometimes it goes that way in the studio (and some days it doesn't!!) but we made the most of it and finished the day with two completed drum and bass tracks. The final arrangements developed as we ran through the songs and I am really pleased with the results so far. I came into the studio with a fairly clear vision of how the CD would sound but that has begun to evolve already and I can only say that I am sure this CD will sound and feel very different from Running Blind… and I mean that in a very positive way!!

We have already developed a "system" of working and Daniel (engineer and co-producer) is fast which really helps a lot. Not only that but the gear is "clean" and obviously well looked-after so we are not (yet!) haunted by the kinds of breakdowns or inconsistencies that can sometimes ruin sessions and/or hurt momentum.

As for the songs well, I know that a lot of you have asked about that and I also know that some of you are concerned about the use of the word "last" in the title track and the title of the CD itself. Please don't read anything into this. I am not in charge of my last dance so I have no idea when that will come but the title track is considered a "stand-out" song so it's appropriate to name the CD after it. Plus the ideas for the cover are really amazing! I'll go more into the songs themselves a little further into this journal.

I'll keep you posted and try to get you some pictures this weekend. God bless.

Next day...
