July 12th 2003

Things are going very well in the studio now and we are preparing the lead vocal tracks so we can add the harmonies and backing vocals, beginning next week. By the end of next week we hope to have all of the vocals finished and then we will spend a few days on percussion and synthesizer tracks before we begin mixing. I am not sure exactly why but I am really pleased with the way the lead vocal tracks have turned out and I have to say that Danny has patiently encouraged me to try a lot of different things with my voice which has also benefitted a lot from live work. It's a matter of confidence and practise I suppose but whatever it is I am pleased with it and I do hope you will like it, even the parts that might come as a surprise!

The target now is to master the CD at the end of July and the "Limited Edition" copies will ship at the end of the first week of August. The official release date is September 19th and touring will begin shortly after that.

That's "the plan" and we are confident that we can meet these targets now. The Last Dance will be a defining moment in my career and is by far the best solo record I have ever made. It may even be the best record I ever made but we may all have different opinions about that! Whatever... it has been a very satisfying experience so far and I am excited now as we move into the final phase. Next week we are shooting the front cover and as soon as it's complete Rod will put it on the site.

The "Limited Edition" copies will be signed and numbered and will include copies of the lyric sheets complete with chords so you can join in if you want to!! Anyway back to work... I'll keep you posted.
