April 15th 2004

Today there's a new kind of tension… the first show! Three new musicians and five new songs, unfamiliar equipment plus the usual tour challenges will test anyone but everyone pulled together to keep the hassle to a minimum.

Our first "Roadies for a Day" (Jyrki and Tina) were early, being the pros they are and soon we had Heikki and Tapio and it seems like a whole bunch of people helping. Richard was scratching his head trying to figure out who was who and Tapio was running around making sure the "meet & greet" was going to go well… or even if I would be able to get there at all!!

It was a long set-up and sound check but it finished in time for dinner and everyone was basically happy and ready to go.

There were a lot of photos taken during sound check and you may have seen them already… Heikki was particularly busy and if the one with the banana ever surfaces someone is in trouble!! By the time you read this you will probably have already seen them!

Then I had to run to do press and radio, grab a shower, back to the venue to collect Monica and off with Tapio to The London Pub to meet everyone before the show, sign stuff and be entertained by a gentleman (I never got his name I'm afraid to say) playing my songs on his accordion!!
Back to the venue and…… show time!!

First shows are always a bit… "nervy"… but I encouraged the guys to concentrate and enjoy themselves and, almost two hours later, we celebrated what I think was a good show… an excellent show all in all. Of course there are things that we will work on before Gothenburg but we'll be doing that the whole tour!!

Just want to thank everyone who came to help, watch and listen. As always, it couldn't happen without you!! There were a lot of familiar faces and a lot of young faces too. Everyone seemed to enjoy the show and I hope to see you all again soon!

Next day...
