April 21st 2004

And now the tough part begins… we are facing 7 shows in 7 days and will cover about 1900 kilometres in the process.

The journey to Trondheim is not far in terms of distance but, because of the roads and the mountains it took about 7 hours. Petter knows these roads (especially the location of the speed cameras!) so that is a big help and we rolled into Trondheim on time at about 15:00. There were plenty of people to help with the load-in and sound check went smoothly so everyone was quite relaxed. The hotel was right around the corner so after we checked in we went to what was described to us as the "hippy area" of the town for dinner. Enough said……

The club was packed and there was a great atmosphere. Because of the low stage, the audience was literally in our faces and it was a great, sweaty and loud gig! Of course there were a few people who had had a few too many which always makes the night more… interesting!! One girl in particular decided to bother me as much as possible by demanding one song after another and, at one point in Stealin', as we were settling back into the songs after the solos, she yelled out… "why aren't you singing?" I explained that I was finishing a solo and she seemed quite happy with that and the rest of the audience was very amused!! Then another person asked me to sign something in the middle of a song… oh well, they were having a good time I guess!

This was the best show so far and everyone had a great time, although Richard was having a problem at the end of the show as the mixer started smoking!! Thankfully this didn't happen until the very end of the show so no harm was done… except to the mixer of course!!

Again because of the roads we have to leave quite early tomorrow so it's an early night and not much time for celebration…

Next day...
