A day off or travel day as it says in my itinerary.

I don’t like days off mainly because I came to play and then I start thinking about what Monica and I would be doing if I was at home and I miss them more when I am not working!

Anyway we drove to Skien but we had to start earlier than planned because the main ferry was on strike! When you tour Norway it is essential to leave lots of time to navigate the twisty mountain roads and, in some cases, to take ferries. The ride is not long and it’s kind of fun but it does add time to your journey planning.

Norway is such a beautiful country and every journey has a kind of magic to it. Probably not in the dead of winter when the mountain passes are closed due to snow but, nevertheless it’s spectacular and very hard to describe!!

Some interesting facts about Norway…

In Bergen, on the west coast, it rains a lot and if you get caught in a shower you can simply go into any shop and pick up an umbrella and then simply drop it of at another shop when you are done with it or when the rain stops!

In Fredrikstad they have yellow bicycles that you can just take and use and drop off when you’re finished with it!!

Sounds amazingly civilised to me although I can’t help wondering (with some sadness) that this wouldn’t work in a lot of places I know!!

After only getting a few hours sleep before this journey I was really happy to see my hotel and to have the chance to relax.

I spent some time with people from the local newspaper to talk about my solo show here next week after which I went to dinner at Morten and Jill’s house. They are good friends of mine and Monica's and this was an enjoyable evening. Petter and Jimmy were there too and we all swapped some stories before they had to leave for Karmoy. They decided to drive over the mountain at night.

The only driving I would be doing this night was in my sleep!!

Next day...
