JULY 3RD Only one day until the Americans celebrate "Independence"! It's funny (in an English sort of way) when I lived in America I would always attach a small Union Jack (that's a pre-politically-correct description of the flag of the United Kingdom) underneath the Stars & Stripes and I would always get in trouble because of it (more political correctness!). And I didn't wear red clothes and I avoided speaking with an English accent! Why? Because I was afraid that some dope-smoking hippy would shoot me from a tree (read Bill Cosby)? No… I just wanted to make a statment in my own stubborn way! We are on the bus, travelling from England to Holland, via the Dover-to-Calais ferry (again!) and I am reminded of one of the great joys of touring… we are on our way to a destination we know nothing about but about which we are all excited! (Some interesting parallels here!) What a cool thing that is… how blessed we are to be able to travel around like this so we can do the thing we love best… PLAY! To be able to meet people from other countries and to be able to explore other cultures… and, above all, to be able to share our music with all who choose to come along! Sometimes I forget how fortunate I am! Next day...
